Daily Star reports that Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso is a target for
both Arsenal and Real Madrid. Alonso (27) joined Liverpool back in 2004
and has done well since moving from Real Sociedad.
Arsenal knows that they need to strengthen their team to become a title
contender again, and with a sale of Emmanuel Adebayor they could afford
to sign Alonso.
Benitez on the other hand knows that he probably can cover for the loss
of Alonso, with Mascherano and Lucas at the club, and then also get cash
for players in other areas which are more difficult.
Liverpool are probably good enough offensively, their defence is the
difficult scenario.
